Remote Blood Pressure Monitoring

The Next Generation of Healthcare is Here

How RPM Works

Managing your blood pressure by yourself can be challenging. Most see their doctor only a few times a year, but what happens between those office visits? If you have ever felt anxious about a blood pressure reading, wondered if your medication/dose is effective, or simply want someone to help keep your BP readings in a healthy range, GatewayMD’s remote patient monitoring program was built just for you.

The concept is simple, GatewayMD will send you a blood pressure cuff that automatically sends your readings to our clinical staff. You will be assigned to a dedicated care nurse and Nurse Practitioner that will communicate with you throughout the month while tracking your BP readings daily. If your care team notices an elevated reading or a negative trend, they will reach out to you. From there we will give guidance, and even contact your doctor if need be.

If you’re like the 116 million Americans that struggle with the management of their blood pressure, let GatewayMD help keep your BP in a healthy range. You shouldn’t have to go through life worrying about what to do next when it comes to managing your BP.

Why is Remote Monitoring Better than Traditional Blood Pressure Monitoring

In the past, healthcare has been focused on alleviating the now rather than keeping people in good health. The next level of healthcare is focused on keeping you well, rather than simply treating you when you get sick.

Why the change? It costs more to help you get back on your feet rather than keep you on your feet. Here’s the breakdown: 75 percent (1.65 trillion dollars) of Medicare and Medicaid is spent helping those with chronic conditions return to normal after the patient has an episode. Take hypertension, or chronic high blood pressure: In the past, your doctor could only see you and make recommendations 2 times per year, at your semi-annual appointments. That leaves a lot of time for things to get out of control and for you to end up in the hospital, costing a lot of time and money.

Enter remote patient monitoring. With the advances of digital technology, we are now able to leverage smart devices that automatically transmit your vitals to your care staff on a daily basis. Not only that, but there is also a remote nurse that tracks and communicates with you throughout the week. With remote patient monitoring, you can rest easy, knowing that you are not alone; your health team is always tracking your vitals with you.

History of Remote Blood Pressure Monitoring

In 2019, Centers of Medicare and Medicade Services began recognizing remote health monitoring with a handful of reimbursement codes. With the rapid evolution of telehealth services, remote patient monitoring services are becoming increasingly popular.

GatewayMD's remote patient monitoring services gives you a team to help you manage the ongoing struggles of hypertension through weekly check-in calls, reminders as well as seeing a general overview of historical readings via our Android and IOS compatible application.

A growing mountain of studies are indicating that for patients who suffer from high blood pressure related illnesses, remote patient monitoring keeps them out of the hospital, less stressed, and enables them to live more freely than when they were managing their condition on their own.
